The area in and around Midigama has some of the best surf Sri Lanka has to offer.
Most of the breaks work all the time, but December to March is usually best with off-shore trade winds. Most breaks start working at 2 foot and will hold some bigger swells as well. If a long distance 16 sec. swell hits, many other points start working and there is quality surf everywhere.
Plantations

Mostly a right, with some lefts depending on the swell and how the sand fills the reef in winter. Really good and un-crowded in the early morning off shore. Starts to break at 2 ft and holds some size.
Coconuts
On the other side of the beach at plantations is coconuts. fast and sometimes hollow lefts peel off before closing out dry reef. Not many people surf here because it is not visible from the main road. Enter the water at plantations and paddle to the peak.
Rams

Lazy Left
Crumbling long left with a very easy paddle out. Gets better at size. Perfect for your first reef experience.
